Surat, August 6: Celebrations erupted in parts of India on Monday after the government revoked Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, which granted special status to the state. In Gujarat, students were seen forming a human chain to celebrate the abrogation of the Article 370. According to a tweet by ANI, students of Sri Swaminarayan Gurukul in Surat celebrated it in a unique way by making a human chain showing 370 with a 'striking off' of the number. In a video released by ANI, the students were seen sitting on the ground to create "370" with a cross on it. They were also seen waiving the Indian flag on the occasion. According to ANI, Prabhujeevan Swami, trustee of the school was quoted saying that article 370 has been removed and to celebrate this moment, teachers of Swaminarayan Gurukul School thought of creating a human chain like this. Amit Shah Calls Bill Scrapping Article 370 Historic.

On Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah scrapped the Article 370 of the Constitution and split the state into two Union Territories: Jammu and Kashmir with an Assembly and Ladakh without one. Celebrations were observed across the nation for this historic decision. People were seen shouting slogans, distributing sweets, dancing and singing as they celebrated the decision.

Prime minister Narendra Modi hailed Shah's speech on Article 370 in Parliament on Monday, saying it was "extensive and insightful". The Prime Minister shared a link of the Home Minister's speech, which is more than 45 minutes in duration, on YouTube from his official Twitter handle, urging upon his followers to hear the audio clip.
