Thiruvananthapuram, November 27: The Kerala High Court has upheld prohibitory orders in Sabarimala and said that Sabarimala is not a place for protests. On November 23, Friday, four women moved the Kerala High Court and asked for the removal of the protestors blocking the entry of women in the Sabarimala temple.
The women demanded that two days be solely dedicated for the entry of women in the temple and have asked for the removal of protesters on those two days. Earlier, the Supreme Court had said that it will hear the review petition on its decision to allow women of all age group to enter the Sabarimala temple on January 22, 2019. The revenue of the Sabarimala Temple in Kerala has been hit drastically this year following the row over the Supreme Court verdict allowing entry of women of all ages. The footfall of the temple has gone down during the Mandalam season this year.
According to reports, there has been a decline of over Rs 7 crore as compared to the revenue last year during this season. Meanwhile, protesters continue to agitate against the Supreme Court's order allowing women of all age group in the Sabarimala temple. On Tuesday, woman activist Rehana Fathima was arrested by Pathanamthitta Police for allegedly hurting religious sentiment through a Facebook post. The activist, who tried to enter the Lord Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala in October, has also been expelled from the Muslim community by the Kerala Muslim Jama-ath Council. A press statement released by the Council stated that she has been removed as she hurt the sentiments of lakhs of Hindu devotees.
