Kolkata, October 29: It came as a huge shock to Khagen Murmu, the BJP MP in Malda, when he received a box full of stones instead of the mobile phone which he ordered for. According to a Times of India report, Murmu was a three-term MLA before winning the Lok Sabha elections in 2019. Murmu had placed an order for the phone which was priced at Rs 11,999 and had bought it from a popular e-commerce portal during the Diwali sale offer.

He chose the cash-on-delivery option and wanted to buy it as a gift for his relative. On Monday, the phone was delivered to him, and when he later opened the packet, he found the box belonged to some other company. However, he received the biggest when he found that there were two pieces of stone inside the box instead of the mobile phone which he ordered for. Murmu lodged a complaint at the police station and reportedly when he contacted the courier boy to lodge a complaint, a number was given to him. When he called the number, the person spoke to him in Hindi and promised to refund his money. He quickly disconnected the phone because he guessed that it could be another fake racket trying to phish his bank details. Police are further probing the matter and on prima facie, they have informed that it could be a fictitious racket running to cheat people.
