Lakhimpur Youth Dies After Falling Into Boiling Jaggery Pan While Working in Maharashtra (Disturbing Video)

A 25-year-old youth from Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur died after falling into a pan of boiling jaggery at a plant in Maharashtra, where he had gone to work. Danish remained trapped in the boiling jaggery for nearly a minute before fellow workers managed to pull him out. He suffered severe burns and later died during treatment at a hospital.

The incident took place on August 21, while a video of the accident surfaced on Sunday evening. Danish, a resident of Moodi village in Isanagar, Lakhimpur, had been married for two years. He is survived by his wife, two-month-old son, parents, elder brother and sister.

His elder brother, Guddu, had a debt of INR 70,000, which Danish had reportedly gone to Maharashtra to help repay. The family was informed about the accident after Danish was taken for treatment. He later died in hospital from the injuries he sustained in the incident.

How The Accident Happened

The accident occurred at around 2:25 pm on August 21. Jaggery was being boiled in two large cauldrons at the plant while workers were engaged in their respective tasks. Danish was standing near the edge of one of the cauldrons when he reportedly felt dizzy and lost his balance. He then fell into the boiling jaggery.

He cried for help, saying, "Save me, brother, save me." Hearing his cries, fellow workers rushed towards the cauldron. Workers initially attempted to pull him out using large ladles but struggled to free him. Two or three workers eventually stepped forward and pulled Danish out of the boiling jaggery. He had suffered extensive burns, and the report said the skin across his body had peeled off.

Workers Tried To Rescue Him

After pulling Danish out, the workers moved him away from the cauldron. He continued to cry out in pain because of the severe burns. Workers brought water and attempted to provide immediate relief before he was taken to a hospital. Despite treatment, Danish died from his injuries.

Following the death, Maharashtra Police conducted a post-mortem before the body was sent to Moodi village. When the body reached the village on Saturday, family members reportedly questioned the workers who had travelled to Maharashtra with Danish and created a commotion.

Isanagar police reached the village after receiving information about the situation. Police subsequently showed the family CCTV footage from the jaggery plant. After viewing the footage, the family members calmed down.

CO Shamsher Bahadur Singh said police had been sent to the village as a precaution when Danish's body arrived. "The incident had occurred at a jaggery plant in Maharashtra. A police team was sent as a precaution when the body reached the village."

He added, "No written complaint has been received against anyone in the matter so far." The available report does not indicate that police have registered a criminal case against any individual in connection with the death.
