Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sithraman on Saturday announced Rs 10,000 crore special window to extend funding to incomplete housing projects. This initiative has been carried out to help boost the ailing housing sector, reeling under the economic crisis in India. Sitharaman also stated that External Commercial Borrowing (ECBs) -- loans in India made by non-resident lenders in foreign currency to Indian borrowers -- would also be relaxed to facilitate the financing of home buyers who are eligible under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that Pakistan will soon get "fragmented into multiple units" and blamed Pakistan for playing the politics of religion. Speaking at an event in Surat, Gujarat, Rajnath lashed out at Pakistan for supporting terror and alleged that "India and Pakistan were partinioned on the basis of religion" because of the mindset of people who created Pakistan and said that it would "disintegrate soon".

Six naxals were killed in three separate encounters with the police in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region on Friday night and Saturday, officials said. The encounters took place in Sukma, Bijapur and Dantewada districts. Three rebels were killed in Sukma district on Saturday evening.
