New Delhi, February 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit West Bengal today to kick start BJP’s campaign for the coming Lok Sabha election. According to the BJP, PM Modi will address rallies in the border district of North 24 Parganas and the industrial town of Durgapur. The rallies are being held at a time when the ruling Trinamool Congress has been at loggerheads with the BJP and has called to oust the Modi government at the centre.
Meanwhile, the Pune Police on Saturday arrested activist Anand Teltumbde from Mumbai in connection with the Bhima Koregaon violence case. Anand Teltumbde's anticipatory bail application was rejected by Pune Sessions Court on Friday. Last month, the Supreme Court dismissed Teltumbde's plea seeking quashing of an FIR registered against him. One person died and several were injured in clashes that erupted during the 200th-anniversary celebrations of Bhima-Koregaon battle on January 1 last year.
Posters depicting Congress president Rahul Gandhi as Lord Rama in Bihar's Patna were vandalised by unidentified miscreants on Friday. The posters were put up by locals showing Rahul Gandhi as the living embodiment of Lord Rama. Targeting the ruling government, the text on the posters read “We Ram Naam Japte Rahen, Tum Banker Ram Jiyo Re” (Let them chant the name of Ram while you live and act as Lord Ram).
