The US labor market took a punch in October from an extended strike at General Motors but the economy continued to add jobs at a solid pace, according to official data released Friday.Employers added 128,000 net new jobs, well above expectations, and gains in the prior months were revised up sharply, and wages continued to climb, the Labor Department reported in the closely-watched monthly employment report.Meanwhile, wages continued to climb, even as the jobless rate rose a notch to a still-low 3.6 percent, matching economists' expectations.

Mumbai, November 1: The India Meteorological Department on Thursday informed that MAHA -- pronounced as M’maha -- cyclone has intensified into a severe cyclone storm over Lakshadweep and adjoining the southeast Arabian Sea. The weather department further informed that the other severe cyclone Kyarr had weakened gradually.

With the last day for filing the nomination papers for Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) council ended on Thursday, reports arrived that as many as 236 candidates filed their nomination papers for 60 wards. The MCC council elections for 60 wards would take place on November 12, and the counting of votes would take place on November 14.

In a shocking case, two people were taken into police custody for allegedly attempting to bury a baby alive on Thursday. Marredpally police said that the suspects claimed that the baby was their granddaughter and she was dead. It was however found that the baby was alive. She has been shifted to hospital.
