Campaigning for Phase 4 of Lok Sabha Elections 2024, which will see voting on 96 constituencies, ended today, May 11. A total of 1,717 candidates from 10 States and UTs will contest elections in this phase.The Election Commission of India informed that a total of 4,264 nominations were filed for 96 parliamentary constituencies. The poll body also said that the maximum number of nomination forms were received from Telangana (1488), followed by Andhra Pradesh, with 1103 nominations from 25 constituencies.

Subrat Pathak, the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) MP and candidate from Kannauj has written a letter to the District Election Officer of Kannauj. Mumbai, May 11: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said he was ready to debate with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on public issues but expressed scepticism about the latter's willingness to participate in such a discourse. Former Editor of 'The Hindu' newspaper N Ram, former Supreme Court judge Madan Lokur and former Delhi High Court Chief Justice A P Shah on Thursday asked the two leaders to participate in a public debate on a non-commercial and non-partisan platform, saying they have only heard allegations and challenges from either side but no meaningful responses.

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi advised the NCP (SP) and Shiv Sena (UBT) to join hands with Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde after Lok Sabha poll results instead of "dying by merging" with the Congress. "A big leader here who has been active for 40-50 years is worried after polling in Baramati (Lok Sabha seat). He says that after June 4, smaller parties will merge with the Congress to survive," PM Modi said, without naming Sharad Pawar.

Massive protests broke out in the Dadyal tehsil of Mirpur district, Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK), on Friday over unjust taxes and the arrest of dozens of activists. A protest was planned for Saturday over the Pakistan-imposed taxes and rising prices. Still, the deployment of additional forces and arrests of 70 activists angered people, and they took to the streets on Friday itself. The protestors reportedly pelted stones at the security personnel and clashed with them.

India has withdrawn all its troops from the Maldives ahead of the May 10 deadline set by President Mohamed Muizzu, a Maldivian presidential office spokesperson said. Muizzu, widely seen as a pro-China leader, had set May 10 as the deadline for the withdrawal of the Indian soldiers from his country. Repatriation of some 90 Indian military personnel stationed in the island nation was a key pledge of Muizzu during his presidential campaign last year.
