Lucknow, Sep 20: The Ganesh idol immersion processions in Lucknow on Wednesday was marred by the death of a youth. According to a tweet by ANI, the youth was killed after drowning in Gomti river during Ganesha idol immersion. Three others have been missing. Reports inform that the rescue operations are underway to find the missing ones. Devotees in the state thronged in large numbers to bid adieu to the popular elephant-headed God.

On Wednesday, thousands of devotees of Ganesha took the idol of Lord for immersion in big processions after completing the seven-day pooja in different pandals. 'Ganpati Bapa Morya' and 'Jai Ganesha' slogans that resounded from all parts of the town. In the wake of the festivity, cranes, drones, CCTVs and floodlights have been arranged to keep a watch on every movement of the revellers and devotees. Ganesh Visarjan 2018 Dates: Check the List of Ganesha Visarjan Tithi With Shubh Muhurat Timings Anant Chaturdashi.

Earlier this month, at least eleven people were killed in several parts of Maharashtra. As per details by Police, three persons drowned during Ganesh idol immersion in the Shivnai lake near Bidkin in Aurangabad district.  According to a PTI report, officials from state police headquarters in Mumbai said that apart from the three deaths in Aurangabad, four people lost their lives in Pune, two in Jalgaon and one each in Nashik and Beed districts.
