A woman was killed and four others were injured after a speeding vehicle allegedly rammed into the car they were travelling in near Bellur Cross in Karnataka's Mandya district. The accident, which took place on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway, was captured on the dashboard camera of another vehicle.

The incident occurred near the Nelligere Toll Plaza at Bellur Cross in Nagamangala taluk on Sunday, September 6, at around 4 pm. The impact left the occupants of the car injured, while one woman later succumbed to her injuries.

Woman Killed In Mandya Accident

The deceased woman has been identified as Sudha Jain, a native of Gujarat. She was travelling from Mangaluru towards Bengaluru and was seated in the rear of the car when the vehicle was allegedly struck from behind.

Jain sustained serious injuries in the collision and later died. Her body was shifted to BGS Hospital for further procedures.

Four other occupants of the car were injured in the accident and were taken to a hospital for treatment. Further details about their condition were not immediately available.

Police Begin Investigation

The accident took place within the jurisdiction of Bellur Police Station. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Officials are also expected to examine the dashcam footage as part of the investigation into the alleged speeding and the collision.

The accident has once again highlighted the risks posed by high-speed driving on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway, particularly on busy stretches used by vehicles travelling between the two cities.
