US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited the Taj Mahal in Agra on Monday during his India tour, posing for photographs alongside his wife Jeanette Rubio and US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor. The visit came after Rubio’s meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar focused on strengthening India-US ties and trade cooperation.

The visit to the iconic monument came on the third day of Rubio’s India tour. Rubio arrived in Kolkata on Saturday before travelling to New Delhi for high-level diplomatic engagements.
His Agra visit followed meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar focused on bilateral cooperation and strategic ties between India and the United States. Rubio is scheduled to travel to Jaipur later in the day as part of his India itinerary. India-US Relations in Focus
Addressing a press conference with S Jaishankar in Delhi on Sunday, Rubio said: "India-US relations have not lost momentum ... India-US relations will come out much stronger in the coming years."
He also expressed hope that the long-pending trade agreement between the two countries would be finalised soon. Rubio added that India and the United States are “strategically aligned” on most major global issues.
The Taj Mahal remains one of India’s most visited landmarks for international dignitaries and foreign leaders visiting the country. Rubio’s visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site comes amid continued efforts by India and the United States to deepen cooperation across trade, defence, technology and regional security.
