Cuddalore, January 4: In a shocking incident of medical negligence by doctors at a government hospital, a Tamil Nadu woman allegedly lost her life after delivering a baby through Caesarian section. The woman’s husband filed an FIR against Virudhachalam Government Hospital in Cuddalore after her death. The woman named Priya was admitted to the hospital on December 27. According to a report published in CNN News18, doctors who conducted a c-section operation on Priya has left a piece of cloth in her abdomen. The 24-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital on December 27. At around 11:40 pm on the same day, she gave birth to a baby girl. Priya’s husband Rajkumar alleged that for the next three days his wife continued to vomit and did not eat anything, and on December 31 she developed a severe memory loss.

Rajkumar, Priya’s husband then shifted her to the private hospital in Puducherry. As Priya’s condition reportedly deteriorated, the doctors of JIPMER on January 1 at 3 am operated Priya. However, she could not survive and died at 8 pm in the evening. Rajkumar told CNN News18, “A doctor, who was part of the team treating my wife and had seen me in that helpless state during the entire period at JIPMER, told me they found a piece of cloth roughly the size of a handkerchief in Priya’s abdomen. However, the authorities of the government officials said that they were waiting for an official report from JIPMER. The government hospital officials claimed that the patient could have died because of the post-surgery infection conducted after the second operation was conducted at JIPMER. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Health Department asked for a report from the government hospital about the treatment given to Priya.
