According to police, the case began on June 16 when the child's mother, Gurpreet Kaur, lodged a missing person complaint at Bahsuma police station. In her complaint, she alleged that a man identified as Arpit Sharma, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, had taken her son away in a car. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and launched a search operation to trace the child and locate the suspect. Police Allege Child Was Killed Over Relationship
During the investigation, police detained Sharma, who allegedly confessed during questioning to killing the child. According to Superintendent of Police (Rural) Abhijeet Kumar, the accused told investigators that he was in a relationship with the child's mother and considered the boy an obstacle to their future together.
Police further alleged that the child was strangled before the body was transported to a forested area in Hastinapur, where it was abandoned. Acting on the suspect's disclosure, investigators recovered the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination.
