New Delhi, May 24: One of the leading milk suppliers in the national capital region Mother Dairy on Friday hiked the retail price of cow milk by Rs 2 per litre. The new price will be effective from Saturday, May 24. The decision has been taken by the milk producer due to the increase in procurement cost from farmers. Amul Hikes Milk Prices by Rs 2 in Mumbai, Delhi and Other Regions .

"Mother Dairy to raise the consumer prices of its poly pack milk variants in Delhi NCR from May 25, 2019. The one-litre pack has been increased by Re 1 only and the 500 ml pack by Rs 2 a litre, effectively impacting the consumer by Re 1 per pack," the company said. Mother Dairy Appoints Sangram Chaudhary as MD.

Mother Dairy has increased the price of only poly pack milk. The updated prices are not applicable for bulk vendor milk, also known as token milk. The decision comes after Anand Milk Union Limited, popularly known as Amul, hiked its prices citing an increase in milk procurement prices.

The daily milk income of Amul was around 30 Lakh litres in winter but the number fell to 25 lakh litres in Summer. The price hike will benefit more than seven lakh cattle breeders associated with 1,200 milk associations of the dairy company.
