Gholap, a resident of Kranti Nagar in Jogeshwari (West), stole gold ornaments twice from the house of Sunita Agvane in Ganesh Nagar, Jogeshwari (West). A few days before Dussehra, when Agvane and her family were going out for personal work, Gholap left Agvane's house with them, but had purposely left behind her phone at the flat. Mumbai: Model Nabbed for Allegedly Killing Mother.

"When they came down from the building, Gholap said she left her phone, took the keys and stole the ornaments from the flat," an officer was quoted as saying. The Agvane family did not realise that ornaments were stolen. On Dussehra, she followed the same stole some more ornaments. This, however, did not go unnoticed. "The family noticed few ornaments were missing from their cupboard and visited Oshiwara police station to lodge a complaint," the officer said.

After registering a case under section 380 of the Indian Penal Code for theft, police began an investigation. They questioned everybody who had visited Agvane’s house and during questioning, Gholap confessed to the crime. Cops also recovered gold worth Rs 2 lakh from a jewellery shop where she sold them. Following her arrest, she was produced before metropolitan magistrate’s court on November 7 and granted bail.
