Kalyan, July 17: Commuters in Mumbai were badly hit during peak hours on Wednesday after train services were disrupted on the Central line. According to reports, local trains, considered the lifeline of the city, were halted between  Vithalwadi and Kalyan. The Central Railway tweeted saying technical team is working on it to restore as soon as possible.  "Due to OHE problem in BL-10 local between Vithalwadi and Kalyan on Up line, services are held up. Technical team is working on it to restore ASAP. Kindly bear with us. Special Trains Between Ambernath and Karjat/Khopoli

In order to clear rush, the Central Railway rolled out shuttle/special trains. "Local services are being run between Ambernath and Karjat/Khopoli and special services are also planned from Kalyan/Dombivli/Thane to clear extra rush from these stations", it added. As per details available, technical team is working on restoration. Commuters were seen walking down the railway tracks as trains stopped working. They complained that no announcements were made at the stations to inform commuters about the delay.

Bus Services From Kalyan to Badlapur

Due to OHE failure between Vitthalwadi and Kalyan, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) started bus services from Kalyan to Badlapur and back. According to a tweet by DRM Mumbai, six buses left from Kalyan to Badlapur to help stranded commuters.

The delay in local trains in Mumbai are a regular phenomenon during monsoon season. Since July, there have been many incidents where the Central line trains were delayed due to heavy rains and waterlogging on the tracks majorly in Kurla, Sion, Thane and Mulund areas.
