The alleged incident took place when a school teacher used corporal punishment on a student of Shakuntala School. Shockingly, the punishment by the teacher fractured the right hand of the student.

The teacher was booked on Friday after the parents of the student filed a complaint with the Titwala police. As per the complaint, Priya Singh (30), a teacher at the school beat Smitesh Jagtap, a class 10 student on his right-hand multiple times with a stick. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Ramesh Jagtap, Smitesh's father said, "On Friday when I went to school to pick up Smitesh, he complained of pain in the hand. On returning home we observed a swelling on the hand. Later, the doctor claimed my son has suffered two fractures on his hand. We took the matter to the police station and lodged a complaint."

In his complaint, Smitesh said that the incident took place when one of a student who pushed him complained to the teacher alleging that Smitesh abused him. Following this, the teacher hit Smitesh on his right hand with a stick which led to the fracture. Acting on the complaint, the teacher was booked  under IPC section 325. Dinesh Kapoor, secretary of Shakuntala School said, "We are also investigating the matter parallelly. If the teacher is at fault, we will take necessary action. At the same time, we will check the CCTV footage and speak to other students to know more about the incident. The incident took place at 11.30 am and the boy left the school at 12.30 pm. He did not complain about any pain when he was in school and his parents did not approach us with the complaint. They directly went to the police. We will cooperate for any kind of investigation by the police."

In her defence, the school teacher said that when Smitesh spoke rudely to her, she hit him with a pencil and not a stick. She further said that he apologised to the principal as well for speaking rudely. "I did not do anything deliberately," she added.
