In a statement, Mumbai Police said the alleged prostitution racket was being run from a hotel in Girgaon.
"In Mumbai Police busted an alleged prostitution racket at a hotel in Girgaon, rescuing two actresses, one Marathi lead and another associated with Bengali and Bollywood cameo roles. A pimp, reportedly a makeup artist linked to celebrities, was caught red-handed during the operation," Mumbai Police said. Officials are investigating the alleged network, including the role of those involved in facilitating prostitution activities. Similar Crackdown Earlier This Year
The latest operation comes months after the Anti-Immoral Trafficking Department (AIITD) busted an alleged prostitution racket operating from a lodge in the Turbhe Naka area of Navi Mumbai in January this year.
During that raid, police rescued seven women and arrested three individuals following a tip-off from an informant.
According to police, women were allegedly being forced into prostitution, with large sums of money collected from clients. Officers deployed a decoy customer to verify the illegal activity before conducting the raid.
Investigators later alleged that the accused had arranged accommodation for the women in lodges, negotiated deals with clients based on their preferences and shared the proceeds among themselves. Police also seized money collected from the decoy customer during the operation.
Anti-Trafficking Efforts Continue
Mumbai Police and the Anti-Immoral Trafficking Department have continued conducting raids against alleged prostitution and human trafficking networks across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Authorities said investigations in the Girgaon case are ongoing, and further action will be taken in accordance with the law.
