New Delhi, May 3: The Supreme Court on Monday, June 3, granted three months time to the Crime Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to complete the investigations in Bihar shelter homes case. The central agency had approached the court seeking six months time to complete the investigations. Earlier, the apex court directed CBI to complete its investigations into the alleged murder of 11 girls at a shelter home in Muzaffarpur and file a status report by June 3, since the case was “urgent”, reported PTIMuzaffarpur Shelter Home Case: 11 Girls Allegedly Murdered by Brajesh Thakur and Others, CBI Tells Supreme Court.

The bench comprising of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Deepak Gupta had initially asked CBI to complete investigations within two weeks, but later postponed it to June after Attorney General KK Venugopal told the top court that completion of the probe in two weeks will be nearly impossible. Muzaffarpur Shelter Home Rape Case: Delhi Court Frames Charges Against All 21 Accused Including Brajesh Thakur.

"Office to list the matter on 3 June before the vacation bench of this court. In the meantime, the ongoing investigation, as stated in the reply of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), be completed and all necessary actions in accordance with the law, including the filing of the status report before this court, be also completed," said the order.

According to a central agency, 11 girls were allegedly murdered by Brajesh Thakur and his associates and a "bundle of bones" was recovered from a burial ground in Muzaffarpur shelter home sexual abuse case. (With PTI Inputs)
