Bhopal, September 12: In just four days, a strange 'viral virus' claimed the lives of four people including a 10-year-old child. The incident took place in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district. Hospitalised patients number at least six. To analyse water samples, examine other villagers, and determine the disease's origin, the health service has dispatched a team to Tikuria village, around 20 km from the district headquarters.

Raj Kol, 10, Kamla Kol, 90, Duasia Kol, 80, and Raja Kol have been named as the deceased. Raja Kol had fever and vomiting for the first time. He was hospitalised to the neighbourhood hospital for two days before being released, but on September 7 he passed away at his home. The youngster, age 10, passed away on September 8. Six persons are currently hospitalised from the village. The cause of death in Kamla and Duasia may have been different due to their age despite having slight symptoms, they have been kept under monitoring as a precaution. But we have requested that the drinking water sources in the region be chlorinated and samples of the water taken by the public health engineering department. Tests have been submitted for stool samples. The results will reveal if there is a bacterial infection. However, because the core symptoms are identical, it appears to be a case of a viral infection, according to Tiwari.
