Puri, October 28: The coastal regions of Odisha will witness heavy rainfall in the coming days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Sunday. The IMD has predicted rain in coastal districts of Odisha from October 28 to October 30. In the view of the weather forecast, the Revenue & Disaster Management Department od the state has issued directions to all collectors to be prepared for any situation.

The IMD informed that a low-pressure area is likely to form over west-central and adjoining the northwest Bay of Bengal around 29th October, 2018. Under its influence, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over Coastal Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. Fishermen have been warned not to venture into deep sea in view of rough sea conditions in the next two days. Odisha Rains: Water Enters Houses in Bhubaneswar, Locals Say No Facilities Despite Smart City Tag. 

On Saturday, the IMD said that the cyclonic circulation was over the southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka coast with a trough extending from this circulation to the east central Bay of Bengal.

According to details by the met department, due to a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal, Odisha is likely to cause heavy rain in many places across the State from Sunday evening. According to a report by Odisha TV,  Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre Director, HR Biswas said that that light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur in coastal and interior parts of the state whereas heavy rainfall is likely in Jagatsinghpur & Kendrapara districts from October 28 to 30.
