A young woman from Prayagraj has alleged that a relative trapped her in a relationship, s*xually assaulted her, secretly filmed the act, and then used the video to blackmail and coerce her into a physical relationship for nearly a year. The woman, identified only as Samra (name changed) to protect her identity, has now taken her case to the Uttar Pradesh State Women's Commission after struggling for months to get justice. Police have reopened an investigation into the matter following directions from the commission.
What The Woman Alleged
According to Samra, the accused, identified as Aman Siddiqui, a relative who frequently visited her house, lured her into an emotional relationship in 2025. She alleged that one day, finding her alone at home, he s*xually assaulted her and secretly recorded an obscene video during the assault. He then allegedly used the video to threaten her into silence and continued forcing himself on her for close to a year.
Samra said that when she became pregnant, the accused gave her medicines to end the pregnancy. When she conceived again a few months later and refused to terminate it a second time, he allegedly began threatening her once more. Family Intervenes, Panchayat Held
Unable to bear the pressure any longer, Samra eventually told her family everything. The matter came to a head on January 15, 2026, when her relatives approached the local police station and filed a complaint. A panchayat, or community mediation, was held at the police station, during which the accused's family reportedly agreed to get the two married to resolve the dispute. Nikah Performed, Then Abandonment
After several rounds of negotiation, a maulvi was called to a house in Prayagraj's Karelli area on February 9, 2026, and the nikah was solemnised with the consent of both families. However, the woman alleged that Aman lived with her for only a month before sending her back to her parental home and cutting off contact.
She said that whenever she pushed him to bring her back, he resumed threatening to leak the obscene video. According to her complaint, he began demanding Rs 10 lakh, warning that he would circulate the video and implicate her entire family if the money was not paid.
Complaint To Women's Commission
On July 22, State Women's Commission member Geeta Vishwakarma visited the Circuit House in Prayagraj for a public grievance hearing. Samra arrived with her family and recounted her ordeal in tears before the commission member. Following the hearing, the commission has directed police to conduct a fresh investigation into the case.
Alleged Harassment On WhatsApp, Instagram
Samra said the harassment has continued online, with the accused allegedly sending obscene messages on WhatsApp and Instagram and repeating threats to leak the video. She said he has also warned her against approaching the police, threatening to make her life unbearable in society if she does so. Both the woman and the accused have studied up to the tenth grade. Samra's father runs a cosmetics shop, while the accused's family is also engaged in business, and he works a private job.
Police Response
Sachindra Kumar, currently in charge of the Audyogik Kshetra police station, said a case was registered in June based on the woman's complaint and that investigation was already underway. He said that with the Women's Commission now ordering a fresh inquiry, police will proceed with renewed action in the case.
