According to the information received, the incident took place on the night of June 6 while Kadam was on night shift duty. According to the information received, Kadam entered the cafe carrying a stick and allegedly knocked down coffee glasses and other food items kept on the counter.
He also allegedly asked customers seated inside the cafe to leave immediately and used abusive language with the employees. The entire incident was reportedly captured on the cafe's CCTV cameras. The CCTV footage later surfaced on social media and quickly went viral, drawing criticism over the officer's conduct. Following the circulation of the video, Pune Police suspended Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kadam. Authorities stated that his alleged behaviour had tarnished the image of the police department in the public eye.
According to the suspension order, his conduct was considered irresponsible, disruptive to police discipline and unbecoming of a police officer.
Police said disciplinary action was initiated after the incident came to light through the viral CCTV footage. As a result, Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kadam has been suspended pending further proceedings.
