Pune Shocker: Techie Assaults Wife Over Payment for Mangoes Worth INR 850, Case Registered
A dispute over a crate of mangoes worth INR 850 led to a police case in Pune after a woman accused her husband, an IT engineer, of assaulting and abusing her during an argument over payment. Police registered an FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections related to causing hurt and criminal intimidation. Investigation is ongoing.
A domestic dispute over a crate of mangoes worth INR 850 led to a police case in Pune after a woman accused her husband, an IT engineer, of assaulting and verbally abusing her during an argument at their home, police said.
The incident took place around 10:30 am on Sunday, May 24, inside the couple’s residence in Pune. Police said the disagreement began after the woman ordered a crate of mangoes from a vendor outside their housing society and asked her husband to complete the payment through a QR code link.
According to police officials, the husband allegedly became upset over the payment request and refused to pay for the mangoes, leading to an argument between the couple. Investigators said the verbal disagreement soon escalated into a heated quarrel inside the house.
As per the woman’s complaint, she began recording the altercation on her mobile phone during the argument. The complaint stated that the husband allegedly snatched the phone from her hand during the dispute and assaulted her.
Police said the woman suffered an injury near her eyebrow during the incident. She also accused her husband of verbally abusing and threatening her before leaving the residence. Following the complaint, the woman approached the police station and was later sent for medical examination and treatment.
Based on the complaint, Pune Police registered an FIR against the husband under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police said further investigation into the matter is currently underway. Police officials noted that domestic disputes triggered by financial disagreements or household issues frequently escalate into legal complaints when allegations of physical assault or intimidation emerge.
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the couple or whether any arrests have been made so far.
