The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has released financial and asset details showing that the 12th-century shrine holds bank deposits totaling nearly ₹1,912 crore and owns over 60,800 acres of land across India.

According to an official statement issued by SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee, the shrine maintained ₹1,811.10 crore in fixed deposits across three dedicated schemes as of August 31. Of this total, ₹1,311.10 crore is parked in public sector banks, while ₹500 crore represents a government-provided corpus fund held in the temple’s profit and loss account. The temple also retains ₹100.71 crore in savings, current, and flexi bank accounts to manage liquid requirements. Why Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra Travel to the Gundicha Temple During Rath Yatra.

Beyond its cash reserves, the temple owns 60,821 acres of land nationwide. The vast majority—60,426 acres—is spread across 24 districts in Odisha, while 395 acres are situated across six other states, including West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh.

The SJTA noted that the temple’s primary revenue streams include devotee offerings, earnings from temple-owned quarries and mines, interest on fixed deposits, land transactions, and government grants. Daily operational expenses are drawn directly from the main temple fund, whereas long-term revenue is set aside into designated Corpus and Foundation Funds to secure future operations.

To ensure transparency, daily cash counts from the temple’s Hundi (donation box) are posted publicly on notice boards and social media channels. Additionally, the administration introduced a digital payment platform named "Samarpan" ahead of the annual Rath Yatra. Devotees globally have contributed ₹56.71 lakh through the portal as of late August. Vishwa Sindhi Sewa Sangam Seeks Answers on 200 Silver Bricks Given in 2021 for Ram Temple Construction (Watch Video).

Jagannath Shrine’s Massive Assets Revealed

The public accounting of bank assets and real estate coincides with a historic inventory assessment of the Ratna Bhandar, the temple’s treasury housing centuries of gold, diamond, and precious stone offerings. State-appointed officials are carrying out the audit—the first complete physical inventory of the treasury’s contents in 48 years.

Governed under the Shri Jagannath Temple Act of 1955 by the Law Department of Odisha, the shrine administration stated that publishing financial records remains a key step in reinforcing public trust and safeguarding the deity's assets.
