Domestic Help Discovers Body, Family Suspects Robbery-Murder
The incident took place in Rudha Dhamrua village. The victim, Indravati, lived alone and was the mother of Ashutosh Mishra, a 2016-batch IPS officer currently posted in Lucknow. Her body was discovered on a cot inside her house by her domestic help at 9 am.
Mishra reached the village around 3 pm on Sunday and lodged a murder and robbery complaint against unidentified persons. According to PTI, a gold chain, nose pin, earrings and anklets were found missing from the body. The family suspects that thieves entered the house on Saturday night and killed her before looting the gold ornaments. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav criticised the state government over the incident, writing on X, "Sad news has come in about the murder of the mother of an IPS officer in Ambedkar Nagar. Even the police are not safe in Uttar Pradesh; unfortunate."

What The Police Said
Police issued a statement detailing the sequence of events. "A person named Ramesh Chandra Mishra informed the Malipur Police Station that the mother of Ashutosh Mishra, a resident of the village of Rudha Dhamrua, had died of a heart attack at 8:00 am. Later, at around 2:30 pm, Ashutosh Mishra stated that he believed his mother had been murdered and that the jewellery she was wearing was no longer on her body," the police said. The department also addressed the forensic examination of the scene. "The forensic unit and officials inspected the scene and completed the Panchnama process, revealing no visible injuries or fight marks on the body. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination, and a panel of three doctors conducted the post-mortem with videography," the police added.
