According to police officials, the college student first connected with the primary accused, identified as Dipak, on Instagram in August 2025. After a period of online communication, the two agreed to meet in person at a coffee shop located in the Katargam area.
The victim stated in her complaint that Dipak laced her coffee with an intoxicating substance during their meeting. While she was unconscious, she was reportedly taken to an undisclosed location where Dipak's uncle met them. The two men are accused of removing her clothes and recording a nude video of her. Investigators stated that Dipak subsequently used the recorded footage to blackmail the victim, forcing her to accompany him to multiple hotels where he repeatedly assaulted her. Upon the victim recently turning 18, the accused allegedly began pressuring her into marriage. The victim further stated that she initially resisted the marriage proposal. However, the accused allegedly threatened her by showing her a video of another woman being tortured with a hot iron rod, warning her of similar consequences. Fearing for her safety, she eventually agreed to sign a marriage registration at the Kamrej registration office. Following this, she was allegedly taken to Rajkot and Amroli, where further assaults took place. Local authorities have arrested the uncle of the main accused, who is charged with being present during the initial recording and behaving indecently. The primary accused, Dipak, who is reportedly associated with the diamond trade, remains at large. Police are currently verifying the authenticity of the intimidation video shown to the victim to determine whether it is real or generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
