New Delhi, July26:  Former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Friday hit out at Samajwadi Party MP Azam Khan for making “sexist” comment on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Rama Devi. Swaraj demanded stringent action against Khan. Swaraj added that Khan’s statement had crossed all the limits of decency. She tweeted, “Azam Khan is known for making such statements which prove that he suffers from mental perversion. The statement that he made while addressing a lady Chairperson crossed all limits of decency. Earlier in the day, various opposition leader including Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary, Supriya Sule, Jayadev Galla and Danish Ali met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and demanded exemplary action against Khan. According to reports, Birla will take action against the Samajwadi Party MP if he does not apologise. On July 25, during the discussion on the Triple Talaq Bill in the Lok Sabha, the Samajwadi Party MP passed disrespectful comments on the BJP MP when she was chairing the proceedings of the Lower House. He had said, “Aap mujhe itni acchi lagti hain ki mera mann karta hai ki aap ki aankhon mein aankhein dale rahoon.” Cutting across the party lines, several women MPs also wrote to the Speaker demanding strict action against Khan.
