Tirunelveli, July 23: Former Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Tirunelveli Mayor Uma Maheshwari, her husband Muruga Sankaran and their domestic help were murdered at her residence on Tuesday in Reddiyarpatti town in Tamil Nadu's Tirunelveli district by unidentified persons. The incident took place on July 23 evening. Police investigations have been initiated into the matter. The early investigations suggest no political angle. The crime came to light when the couple's daughter came in search of them at around 4:30 pm today, reported PTI. However, the News18 reported that the maid's mother visited in search of her. The district police commissioner has reached the spot and investigating into the case. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam member Uma Maheswari served as a Mayor of the Tirunelveli Corporation between 1996 and 2001. The cops said that the possible motive for the crime could be a property dispute. The safe in the residence wad also found broken. A case has been registered and investigations have begun.
