The incident reportedly took place on Thursday when Varnika was coming down the staircase. According to preliminary information, she apparently lost her balance and fell, sustaining a serious head injury. She became unconscious and was taken to a nearby private hospital by school staff.
Despite receiving treatment, the child died from her injuries the following day.

CCTV Footage Captures School Staircase Fall
The incident was reportedly captured on the school's CCTV cameras. The footage shows Varnika coming down the stairs before suddenly falling. Other students nearby appear to try to help her, while one student is seen calling a teacher. A teacher subsequently checks on the girl and assesses her condition. Police are examining the CCTV footage to establish how the accident occurred and what happened immediately after the fall.
Circle Inspector K Seetharam said the available CCTV footage reportedly shows the girl losing her balance while using the staircase. He also said that no complaint had been lodged with the police as of Friday night.
Family, School Give Different Accounts

Meanwhile, the girl's family alleged that the school management did not communicate with them promptly after the accident. The family claimed they were not immediately informed and were not given complete details about the incident, which they alleged caused a delay in taking the child to hospital.
The school management denied the allegations. It said staff were waiting for the girl's father to arrive and that when the child suddenly began vomiting, the school immediately arranged a vehicle and took her to a nearby private hospital.
Police are continuing to examine the CCTV footage and other circumstances surrounding the girl's death.
