A 21-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife by striking her head with a television set during a domestic dispute at their residence in Maharashtra's Thane district. The incident took place late Saturday night in the Balyani area of Kalyan taluka, according to local law enforcement.
Domestic Dispute Escalates to Fatal Assault
The victim, identified as 20-year-old Sarika, was killed on the spot inside the couple's home. According to Inspector Mukesh Dhage of the Kalyan taluka police station, the accused, Satish Kaluram Waghe, also known as Guddu, harboured suspicions regarding his wife, which had led to frequent and volatile arguments between the two. During a severe altercation on Saturday night, the confrontation escalated physically. Police officials stated that Waghe lifted a television set and smashed it against Sarika's head, subsequently assaulting her further with a heavy water container. Thereby killing her on the spot.
Police Intervention and Legal Proceedings
Neighbouring residents alerted local authorities after the assault was discovered. A police team dispatched to the scene recovered the victim's body and subsequently forwarded it to a state medical facility for a postmortem examination to confirm the exact cause of death. Waghe was apprehended by the police shortly after the incident on Sunday. Following preliminary questioning, investigators formally registered a case against him.
