A woman who visited a private lodge with her married male friend was allegedly kidnapped by a five-member gang posing as police officers and gang-raped in Kerala's Thrissur. The man accompanying her was brutally assaulted, suffering fractures to his hands and legs, before being abandoned outside a hospital in Tamil Nadu. Police have arrested five accused individuals, including the man's wife who allegedly hired the attackers, officials confirmed on Thursday, October 1.
The incident took place on September 22, when the man and the woman from Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu had checked into the lodge near the KSRTC bus stand in Thrissur, PTI reported. Shortly after, five men, who posed as police officers, forcibly entered their hotel room, tied the hands and legs of both the man and woman with cloth, gagged them, and took them to Tamil Nadu in a car. Wife Tracked Husband's Phone to Direct 'Quotation' Gang
Based on information provided by the survivor, Tamil Nadu Police registered a case and handed it over to the Thrissur City Police.
Investigation revealed that the man's wife had given a contract—locally referred to as a "quotation"—to the accused men to carry out the crime. She allegedly tracked her husband's phone location and passed the real-time information to the gang, orchestrating the raid on the Thrissur lodge.
Police have arrested all five accused, including the man's wife, and further investigation is underway. The initial breakthrough occurred when Thrissur City Police intercepted one suspect near the Cochin International Airport in Nedumbassery.
Subsequent raids across Coimbatore, Palani, and Tiruppur led to the arrest of the remaining conspirators. Police are actively tracing an additional suspect believed to be a minor who was involved in the abduction.
