The incident occurred when sub-inspector (SI) Rajeev’s jammed pistol accidentally fired, hitting Yakoob in the head. According to an official statement, the pistol discharged while SI Rajeev was attempting to load it, with the bullet passing through Rajeev’s abdomen before striking Yakoob. In a video, the injured SI Rajeev recounts the incident to the media while the father of the deceased constable shares the details conveyed to him.
