Vile Parle Fire: 2 Dead, 8 Injured After Massive Blaze Erupts at Residential Building in Mumbai (Videos)

Two people have died, including a two-and-a-half-year-old child, and eight others were injured after a fire broke out on the 11th floor of a residential building in Vile Parle (West), Mumbai, on Tuesday night. Emergency personnel rescued 15 residents who were trapped on the building's terrace during the multi-hour operation.

Two people, including a 2.5-year-old child, died and six others were injured after a fire broke out in two flats on the 11th floor of a residential building in Vile Parle West, Mumbai, late Tuesday night. The fire was reported at around 10:02 pm at Shanta Bhavan Building on Baptista Road, near St Xavier School on Church Road, according to a report.

According to reports, the fire affected Flat Nos. 1101 and 1102 of the stilt-plus-11-storey building. Fire at Vile Parle Residential Building

The Mumbai Fire Brigade received the emergency call at 10:02 pm. The incident was initially classified as a Level-1 fire before being escalated to Level-2. Firefighters brought the blaze under control around 12:25 am and completely extinguished it by about 1 am.

Two Dead, Six Injured

Eight people were reported injured in the incident and were taken to Cooper Hospital and Nanavati Hospital.

At Nanavati Hospital, 2.5-year-old Abir and 23-year-old Ankita were declared brought dead. Four others — identified as Parth, 32, Hiren, 64, Yashasvi, 33, and Abhishek — were taken for treatment. Parth and Hiren were reported to be stable, while Yashasvi and Abhishek were treated and discharged. At Cooper Hospital, 30-year-old firefighter Manoj Sonavane and 29-year-old Shivam Dwivedi were treated and discharged. Cause of Fire Under Investigation

Fire brigade personnel, police, electricity department officials, an ambulance and civic ward staff were deployed at the scene. The cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained, according to the reports. Authorities are expected to examine the affected flats and electrical installations as part of the investigation.
