Kolkata, July 30: Two horrific murder cases reported in West Bengal's Kolkata have given sleepless nights to the residents. Police on Tuesday found two couples murdered. The bodies of two seniors citizens were found in the two-storey house in Netaji Nagar, while the other couple were found chopped and stuffed in two trolly bags inside a farmhouse in Narendrapur. According to a report in Hindustan Times, the police said that the victims - Dilip Mukherjee (80) and Swapna Mukherjee (72) - in the first case were smothered and strangulated with a rope. The bodies have been sent for autopsy. Some cash and other precious thing were also missing from the house, cops said. In the second case, 7 km away from the first incident spot, the bodies of Pradip Biswas (55) and Alpana Biswas (47) were chopped into pieces and stuffed into trolley bags. The bags were dumped in the toilets of the farmhouse, Hindustan Times quoted the police as saying.

The couple were working as caretakers of farmhouse since 1997. The crime came to light when Pradip's brother arrived in the city. When he went to the farmhouse, the main door was closed so he entered through a side door. Upon spotting bloodstains on the bed, he called locals who informed the police. Meanwhile, investigation in both cases is underway.
