When Will PF Balance Check and Claims Be Available Again?
EPFO online services will resume from 12 am on July 2, 2026, after an extended system upgrade shutdown that began on June 26. PF claims, passbook downloads, UAN services, employer filings and UMANG app features remain unavailable until then. EPFO has confirmed full restoration of services including claims and account access from July 2 after the digital migration is completed.
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has extended the suspension of several key online services by one more day, confirming that its digital platforms will now resume from 12 am on July 2, 2026. The extension delays restoration of services that were earlier expected to restart on July 1, according to a message on the EPFO Unified Member Portal.
The shutdown began on June 26 as part of a planned system migration aimed at upgrading EPFO’s digital infrastructure to improve speed, stability and cybersecurity. During this period, the Member Portal, Employer Portal and services on the UMANG app have remained unavailable, impacting millions of subscribers across India. When Will EPFO Services Resume?
EPFO has confirmed that all online services will resume from 12 am on July 2, 2026. The extension means users will continue to face restrictions until 11:59 pm on July 1, after which normal operations are expected to be restored.
Once the upgraded system goes live, subscribers will regain access to key services including:
- PF withdrawal claims
- Passbook downloads
- UAN management
- Employer compliance filings
- UMANG-based services
PF Claims, Passbook and Employer Services Affected
During the shutdown, EPF members have been unable to:
- Submit fresh provident fund withdrawal claims
- Track claim status
- Download e-passbooks
- Access EPFO online accounts
The disruption has also impacted Universal Account Number (UAN) services, including Aadhaar seeding and onboarding for new employees. For employers, the downtime has blocked access to the Employer Interface, preventing the filing of Electronic Challan-cum-Returns (ECR), employee data updates and compliance-related submissions. EPFO Retains 8.25% Interest Rate: What It Means and When PF Interest Will Be Credited.
UMANG App Services Also Disrupted
EPFO services on the UMANG app have also remained unavailable during the migration period.
Users cannot currently:
- Check PF balance
- File claims
- Apply for scheme certificates
- Register grievances
- Generate UAN
- Link Aadhaar with UAN
- Track claim status
- Apply for Jeevan Pramaan certificates
EPFO said the migration is necessary to shift to a more advanced platform designed for faster processing, improved reliability and stronger cybersecurity.
How Subscribers Can Still Check PF Balance
Despite the outage, EPFO members can still access limited services through offline channels if their UAN is active and KYC-compliant.
Subscribers can check their balance by giving a missed call to 011-22901406 from their registered mobile number. Details are sent via SMS.
They can also use SMS services:
- EPFOHO UAN ENG (for English)
- EPFOHO UAN HIN (for Hindi)
These services work only if the mobile number is registered and linked with Aadhaar, PAN and bank details.
Services to Fully Restore After Upgrade
EPFO has advised users to plan transactions accordingly, as no online processing is available until restoration.
From July 2 onward, all digital services are expected to function normally again, marking the completion of the upgrade process affecting more than 7 crore subscribers.
