Jaipur, December 20: A day after a US health agency issued warning to travelling women against visiting Zika hit states in India and especially Rajasthan-owing to the large number of cases from the state, the Rajasthan government issued a statement saying Zika is now under control in the case.

The newly formed Ashok Gehlot government said that no positive cases of Zika virus have been found in the state after October 28, 2018.

US-based health organisation named the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued an alert and advised pregnant women against travelling in India's Zika affected states, in a notice last week. Zika Virus Disease: What Are The Causes, Symptoms and Treatment of This Mosquito-Borne Illness.

On December 12, a report in PTI said that over 280 cases of Zika virus infection, including two deaths, were reported from three states in India from September to November, Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel informed the Rajya Sabha. Total 159 cases of the infection were reported from Jaipur in Rajasthan.
