Mumbai, October 4: The Sensex is currently trading at 35,210, down 765 points, 2.12 percent. The plunge in the benchmark indices is following a weak rupee that sunk to a fresh low in the intraday trade. Nifty Index is currently at 10,622.15, down 2.17 percent. Rupee at 73.77, Slips to Fresh Record Low Against US Dollar; Sensex Over 500 Points Down.

There is panic selling taking place as a result of which 208 stocks have hit their 52-week lows. The rupee has slipped to a new low today by opening at 73.77 against the US dollar. The currency has plunged 43 paise against the US dollar. The reason behind the fall can be attributed to the rising global oil prices and unabated capital outflows.

On Wednesday, almost Rs 1.79 lakh crore wealth have got wiped out as the market capitalisation of all the BSE-listed companies plunged to Rs 143.64 lakh crore from Rs 145.43 lakh crore.
