New Delhi, May 20: After all exit polls predicted a major victory for the BJP-led NDA in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Shiv Sena on Monday mocked Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for trying hard to bring opposition leaders under one roof. Shiv Sena, in its editorial mouthpiece Saamana, said Naidu was unnecessarily exhausting himself to form a non-BJP government at the Centre.

"Why is Chandrababu Naidu is exhausting himself without any reason? Hope his current excitement lasts till May 23. We wish him luck for the same," Shiv Sena said. Asserting that the country cannot afford a coalition government, the BJP ally said exit polls have answered the question that who will form the next government. It said the BJP has crossed the 300-mark after the fifth phase of Lok Sabha polls. Exit Polls Have Failed to Catch People's Pulse, Says Chandrababu Naidu.

"Who will form the government? This question has already been answered. Amit Shah said that BJP will win 300 seats and the party reached that target in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections only," Shiv Sena said. "There are at least five contenders for the Prime Minister's post in the Opposition. There are more chances of their disillusionment (mohbhang)," it added. Exit Poll Results: Modi Wave Still Intact? The Shiv Sena said some people assume that there would be some situation where they can reap political gain. "Naidu is trying for a coalition but in reality, his efforts are going to be futile. He met NCP chief Sharad Pawar twice in Delhi, but there is no guarantee of this possible coalition continuing to stay intact by May 23 evening," the party said.

Naidu has been holding consultations with a host of opposition leaders. On Sunday, he met Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Yechury, Loktantrik Janata Dal leader Sharad Yadav, and CPI leaders Sudhakar Reddy and Secretary D Raja before flying to Lucknow to meet Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati. He later held discussions with UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
