The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a clear edge among the city electorate,Ā as it outperformed the Congress in both City Corporations and City Municipalities. The Congress, however, took a definite lead in town municipalities and a slim surge in town panchayats. Here are the stats released so far by the SEC:

Results ofĀ 2,598 out of the 2,709 total wards have been declared. The Congress has so far emerged as the single-largest party, with victory on 955 seats, followed by the BJP which has registered wins in 907 wards. The JD(S), a distant third in the race, has bagged 366 seats. 13 candidates of the Bahujan Samaj Party have also emerged victorious, apart from 324 Independents.

Results of 99 out of the 105 urban local bodies have been declared by the State Election Commission. While the Congress is the single-largest party in 51 of the ULBs, the BJP is second with victories in 31. The JD(S), meanwhile, has emerged as a distant third with the party emerging the largest in only 13 civic bodies. The results of 6 ULBs are still awaited.

Results of 2,338 out of the total 2,709 wards has been declared. The Congress has emerged as the single-largest party so far, winning 874 seats, followed by the BJP which has bagged 816. The JD(S) is a distant third, with victories on 312 seats. Notably, 298 Independents and 13 Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidates have also emerged victorious.

Part-wise, the Congress is leading with wins on 735 seats, followed by the BJP with 684 wins. The JD(S) is a distant third with victories on 265 wards.

As per the latest update issued by the State Election Commission, results have been declared for 844 seats out of the 2,709 wards contested. The Congress is so far the single-largest party with victories on 331 seats, closely followed by the BJP which has won 303. The JD(S) is a distant third with wins on 102 seats. As per the latest updates reported by the local media, results of 52 of the 105 urban local bodies have been declared. The Congress is leading with victory in 23 ULBs, followed by the BJP in 16 and the JD(S), which has bagged 10 civic bodies.

Bengaluru, Sept 3: The State Election Commission will declare the results of civic polls conducted in 105 Urban Local Bodies of Karnataka. The counting of votes is scheduled to begin today at 8am. For the live results and latest updates based on the early trends, stay tuned here.

Elections in the 105 ULBs were held on Friday, with a voter turnout of 63.2 per cent being recorded. The civic bodies, spread across 24 districts, include 3 city corporations, 23 town panchayat, 29 city municipalities and 53 town municipalities. In all, a total of 2,662 wards were up for grabs.

For the safe and smooth conduct of polls, 40,000 security personnel were deployed in the 24 districts where the poll-bound ULBs were located. The total electorate strength was 49.33 lakh, out of which 13.33 lakh were to vote in the three city corporations -- Mysuru, Shivamogga and Tumakuru.

As per the SEC data, a total of 8,420 candidates were in the fray for the ULBs sans the city corporations. Party-wise, the maximum - 2,306 - were from the Congress, followed by 2,203 from the Bharatiya Janata Party and 1,397 from the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S). Meanwhile, 814 candidates were in the fray for elections to the municipal corporations of Mysuru, Shivammoga and Tumakuru. Notably, 135 aspirants were from the Congress, 130 from the BJP and 129 from the JD(S).

The last elections for 4,976 ULB seats was held in 2013. The Congress had then emerged as the single largest party winning 1,960 seats, whereas, the BJP and JD(S) had bagged 905 each. Remaining wards were won by the Independents.
