Lucknow, June 2: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati on Monday blamed gathbandhan (alliance) with Samajwadi Party for loss in 2019 Lok Sabha Election in Uttar Pradesh. She also hinted that BSP is likely to part ways with Akhilesh Yadav's party. Reports state that Mayawati in a review meeting with office bearers and senior party leaders blamed Akhilesh Yadav for the poll defeat. Unhappy with gathbandhan, BSP is likely to dump SP, according to news agency ANI. Mayawati has reportedly asked party leaders to prepare for the upcoming bye-elections in the state. A total of 11 assembly seats will go into the poll after Member of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) who won in the parliamentary elections vacated their seats.

In general elections, Bahujan Samaj Party won 10 seats, while Samajwadi Party contributed five more seats to the alliance's tally. On the other side, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a whopping 62 seats in Uttar Pradesh.
