In Mizoram, close contest was witnessed between Shri. C. Lalrosanga from Mizo National Front (MNF) and Lalnghinglova Hmar which was backed by Indian National Congress and Zoram People's Movement. C Lalrosanga has won the only Lok Sabha seat in Mizoram by a margin of 8140 votes.

The ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) candidate C. Lalrosanga is leading in the lone Lok Sabha seat in Mizoram over his nearest Independent rival Lalnghinglova Hmar by around 9,000 votes.

Mizoram, May 23: The result of Lok Sabha elections held in Mizoram and other states and union territories in seven phases will be declared today. The counting of votes will begin at 8 am. Mizo National Front (MNF) has fielded C Lalrosanga, a former Indian Broadcasting Programme Service (IBPS) officer and ex-Director General of Doordarshan from the constituency.

In Mizoram, 95 per cent of the state’s population belongs to Scheduled Tribes, according to the 2011 Census. In the state, total voters are 702,170. According to the Election Commission report, 63.06 per cent voters turnout on the polling day. The State went to polls on April 11 in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019. The Mizo National Front lead by Zoramthanga, who is currently chief minister of Mizoram.

In Exit Poll 2019 overall trend which was announced on 19 May 2019, showed that BJP was winning the elections on 300+ seats, while Congress was leading on 120+ seats.

In 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Mizoram had a voter turnout of 61.95 per cent out of 7.02 lakh voters. CL Ruala of the Congress won with a vote share of 49.03 per cent.

The prospects of Congress have diminished in the state ever since, with the party losing the assembly elections held in December 2018. The MNF had won with a resounding mandate, with Zoramthanga replacing Lal Thanhawla as the chief minister.
