New Delhi, May 24: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won a full majority after winning 304 seats in Lok Sabha elections. According to reports, Narendra Modi will take oath as Prime Minister for the second term on May 30. On Friday, the Union Cabinet will meet in the evening to recommend the dissolution of the 16th Lok Sabha. The meet will be held a day after the BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) bagged 352 seats. After the Cabinet's recommendation is passed in the form of a resolution, President Ram Nath Kovind will dissolve the present Lok Sabha, the term of which is ending on June 3. Narendra Modi, Amit Shah meet BJP Veterans LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi After Massive Victory in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.

The 17th Lok Sabha has to be constituted before June 3 and the process to form a new House will be initiated when the three Election Commissioners meet the President in the next few days to hand over the list of newly-elected members. After the meeting of the Union Cabinet, the Council of Ministers, which also comprises ministers of state, will meet at the South Block office of the prime minister, official sources said on Thursday. Narendra Modi to Take Oath as PM for Second Term On May 30.

Yesterday, the counting of votes for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections took place. The BJP won these elections with a thumping majority. This time also, the opposition parties, primarily Congress failed to achieve the three-figure mark. The grand old party won only bagged only 52 seats which are just eight seats more than the 2014 elections. Congress President Rahul Gandhi also lost his from Amethi. The Congress led-United Progressive Alliance (UPA) won only 91 seats.
