New Delhi, February 7: Congress President Rahul Gandhi, speaking at the AICC minority department national convention on Thursday challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi for debate and called the Prime Minister a "darpok" (coward). "I challenge the BJP, let Narendra Modi ji debate with me for 10 minutes on stage. He is scared, he is a 'darpok' person," said Rahul Gandhi at the convention. This is Rahul Gandhi's second personal attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in as many days. On Wednesday, speaking in Odisha at the Parivartan Sankalp Samavesh rally, Gandhi called PM Narendra Modi a "jumla raja" (king of rhetoric) and his government a "chaupat sarkar" (failed government.) "I know his (Modi) character after fighting him for five years. He is a coward. When someone stands up to him, he runs away," said Gandhi with a bit of theatrics as he turned back and walked away to enact somebody running from a debate. The Congress party also escalated the war over the Narendra Modi government's Triple Talaq Bill ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Congress MP Sushmita Singh on Thursday said that the party will abolish the Triple Talaq law if they come to power. Dev also met the members of the women wing of Muslim Personal Law Board who "thanked her for being their collective voice in opposing criminalising Triple Talaq."
