Lok Sabha Elections 2019: The results of Tezpur Lok Sabha Constituency has been declared. BJP candidate Pallab Lochan Das won and is elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) in the Tezpur constituency, bagging 23,91,94 votes, while M.G.V.K. Bhanu from INC trails in this year's general elections. The counting of votes on the Parliamentary seat in Assam began at 8:00 am on Thursday, May 23. Voting took place for the Tezpur seat in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

This year, about 900 million Indians have registered to elect in the General Elections which is reported, 84.3 million more than the number of voters during the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections. In Tezpur, the key candidates for Lok Sabha Elections are Ziabur Rahman Khan (Independent), Mahendra Bhuyan (Nationalist Congress Party), Pallab Lochan Das (BJP) and M.G.V.K. Bhanu (INC). According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the last date for filling nominations is March 25, 2019. In 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ram Prasad Sarmah won a majority of votes in Tezpur, 4,46,511 to be exact. The runner up on the other for the previous General Elections was Indian National Congress (INC) member, Bhupen Kumar Borah, who bagged 3,60,491 votes. Besides, Ram Prasad Sarmah is the current sitting member of parliament of the Kaliabor constituency.

Lok Sabha Elections 2019 will be conducted from April 11 to May 23. The voting for this year’s General Elections will take place in seven phases between April 11 to May 19, 2019. The final counting and declaration of the Lok Sabha Elections’ result are scheduled on May 23, 2019.
