Hyderabad, December 11:Ā The counting of votes forĀ 119-seatĀ Telangana Assembly is currentlyĀ underway. According to the latest trends,Ā incumbent Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) crossed halfway mark on Tuesday and is all set to take a course of the second term in the state. AccordingĀ to trends, K Chandrashekhar Rao-led party was ahead inĀ 89 seats, while the Congress-led Prajakutami was trailing at the second position with 16 seats. The voting for the 119-seatĀ Telangana AssemblyĀ were held on December 7 with a voter turnout of 73.20 per cent.

On the polling day, the highest turnout of voters was reported in Madhira Assembly constituency at 91.65 percent. It was followed by Alair 91.33, Munugode 91.07, Narsapur 90.53, Bhongir 90.53 and Narsampet 90.06. The results ofĀ assembly elections 2018 are seen as the semifinal before the 2019 general election. In Telangana, the fate of 1,821 candidates contesting the Telangana Assembly election will be decided today when the counting is completed. It must be noted that this is the second assembly election in Telangana after the first one took place in 2014, shortly after the state’s creation following its separation from Andhra Pradesh. If exit poll results are to be believed, all the news agencies gave a clear edge to K Chandrashekar Rao-led Telangana Rashtra Samithi to come in power in the state.Ā Telangana Assembly Elections 2018: TRS, Congress-led People Front Locked in Tough Battle.

However, the 'Praja Kutami' alliance of Congress, Telugu Desam Party, CPI and Kodandaram-led Telangana Jana Samithi, appears confident of forming the government in the southern state.Ā On the other hand, the BJP had claimed a fractured poll mandate inĀ Telangana and claimed that it would play a 'vital role' in the formation of the government in the southern state. In the 2014Ā polls, the BJP had won five seats in alliance with the TDP. The party said it ensured that there is a triangular fight in Telangana this time.
