Mumbai, August 14: On Monday, a POCSO Act Court, convicted and sentenced a 40-year-old teacher from a suburban school for sexually harassing minor students in 2013. According to a Times of India report, the school principal said that 39 students had given written complaints to her, and three of them had given their complaint to the trial court. The principal of the school stood by the victims during their tough time, and she even faced the brunt of filing an FIR without informing the school management.

As quoted in the TOI report, she said, " I had to pay a price for standing up for students. But as principal, I knew I had to hear them out and ensure a person who committed a social evil was disciplined. It hasn’t been an easy journey. The girls would often feel low after hearings, but we are glad the case has met its logical end." Himachal Pradesh: School Principal Accused of Sexual Abuse Stabbed to Death in Baddi, Wife Injured

The school teacher was reinstated after a High Court order in 2017. The three survivors who deposed were in class X at the time of the incident, and most of them are now pursuing their higher education.
