The Indian festival of lights, Diwali has begun and the vibe is felt everywhere. People have decorated their houses with colourful lamps and lanterns. Residential complexes are lit up in varied light strings and bigger lanterns, making the atmosphere all attractive. While the enthusiasm of the festival is felt everywhere across the country, in Goa there is a huge spectacle of a 40 feet lantern! The members of the group are the locals here and they worked for about 15 days to prepare this multi-coloured lantern. The group has been marking the festivities for many years and this is the 13th year they are organising the celebrations. In Goa, on the day of Naraka Chaturdashi, an effigy of demon Naraka is made and lit up to signify the victory over the evil. Each year the response for this celebration is only rising and some people have even made monetary contributions in making the big lantern. The member of the group said, "We do something new every year and have been loving the response of the people. This year all the young people around worked together to make this lantern. We just want to spread the message of everyone enjoying the festival together. Christians, Muslims, Hindu all come here together to be a part of the festivities."
