An ambulance driver from Palakkad, Kerala who allegedly lowered a severely-injured accident victim upside down from the stretcher has caused an uproar in the state. According to reports in The News Minute, the patient was left in that position for several minutes outside the hospital. The driver was annoyed by the victim who had urinated and defecated inside the ambulance. Footage of the incident is doing rounds on the social media, in which the man is seen lying on the stretcher for several minutes before he was lifted up and placed on a wheelchair.

The victim, an elderly man who was severely injured in a road accident in Palakkad, later passed away at Thrissur Medical College at 2:33 am. Hospital authorities say that the man wasn’t visited by family or friends while he was admitted. Watch the shocking video.

Khadar Pasha, a civil police officer at Naatukal station told The News Minute that that the elderly man was severely injured in a road accident on March 20, 2018. People spotted him lying on the side of the road, wounded from a possible hit-and-run accident. One of them admitted him to Mothercare, a private hospital in Mannarkkad. But he was soon shifted to Palakkad District Hospital and then to Thrissur Medical College for better treatment.

An official from the hospital said that the driver works for a private ambulance service that operates near the Palakkad District where the victim was first admitted. The number of the van driven by the errant driver has been noted and a case has been registered against him under IPC section 336, which deals with endangering life or personal safety of others. An investigation into the incident has been launched by the Naatukal police to find the culprit of the hit-and-run.
