A Zambian product has been recalled by local authorities after it was found that the energy drink was spiked with viagra. A man who had the product suffered from a persistent erection, abnormal heartbeat and sweating which are usually side effects associated with viagra. Medical experts have considered it a threat to the public, as per reports by Daily Mail. Often, energy drink makers endorse their products with claims of instant energy; however, this particular brand went a step ahead. The tests found Natural Power High Energy Drink SX contained the active ingredient in Viagra, sildenafil, after a man reported having a six-hour erection, sweating and abnormal heartbeat. The samples of those drinks were spiked with sildenafil, and all the cans of the said brand on the shelf were recalled. A complaint from the country’s medicine regulator, Zambia Medicine Regulatory Authority was made in December, suggesting the drink was contaminated with sildenafil citrate.
